Pemerhatian terhadap dinamik ini menunjukkan suatu hakikat yang membimbangkan: negara-negara rantau Arab yang kaya-raya dilihat masih bergelut untuk melindungi kedaulatan diri secara mutlak, malah terpaksa meletakkan pergantungan yang tinggi kepada kuasa luar demi pertahanan negara mereka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lebih memilukan, kelemahan strategik ini menyebabkan ruang udara dan wilayah perairan negara-negara tersebut bebas dipergunakan oleh kuasa asing bagi memenuhi agenda geopolitik masing-masing. Tragedi ini menggariskan satu pengajaran (ibrah) yang sangat jelas\u2014kekayaan ekonomi dan lambakan hasil petroleum semata-mata tidak mampu diterjemahkan kepada kekuatan kuasa nasional (national power) sekiranya sesebuah negara itu tidak memiliki keupayaan ketenteraan mandiri yang ampuh. Malah, apabila konflik memuncak, jaminan perlindungan daripada kuasa besar pimpinan Barat seperti AS terbukti boleh goyah dan tidak memihak kepada mereka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bahaya Bergantung Kepada Kuasa Asing: Menyoroti Sejarah Negara<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai rakyat Malaysia, kita tidak perlu memandang jauh untuk memahami akibat terlalu bergantung kepada entiti luar dalam soal pertahanan dan kedaulatan. Sejarah lampau negara kita telah mencatatkan detik-detik hitam yang sewajarnya dijadikan iktibar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ketika era penjajahan kolonial British, Tanah Melayu telah diletakkan di bawah status negeri naungan (protectorate). Konsep ini memberikan ilusi keselamatan palsu bahawa empayar British akan melindungi tanah air kita daripada sebarang ancaman luar. Namun, apabila tercetusnya Perang Dunia Kedua di Asia Pasifik bermula penghujung tahun 1941 hingga awal 1942, mitos ketampanan tentera British hancur berkecai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walaupun dilengkapi dengan persenjataan dan teknologi ketenteraan yang dianggap canggih pada zaman tersebut, tentera British dan sekutunya gagal menyekat kemaraan pantas Tentera Empayar Jepun. Akhirnya, pentadbiran British menyerah kalah, meninggalkan pejuang tempatan\u2014khususnya Askar Melayu\u2014berjuang bersendirian bermati-matian mempertahankan tanah air sehingga ke titisan darah terakhir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senario yang hampir sama turut berlaku pada zaman kegemilangan Kesultanan Melayu Melaka. Pada ketika itu, Melaka mendabik dada dengan jaminan perlindungan yang diberikan oleh Dinasti Ming dari China. Namun, apabila armada Portugis pimpinan Afonso de Albuquerque melancarkan serangan besar-besaran pada tahun 1511, bantuan dan armada pertahanan dari China tidak kunjung tiba. Kejatuhan Melaka pada tahun tersebut telah mengheret rantau ini ke kancah penjajahan bertali arus oleh kuasa Portugis, Belanda, Inggeris, dan Jepun yang memakan masa lebih empat abad lamanya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keperluan Mendesak Memperkasa Aset Ketenteraan Negara<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Daripada lipatan sejarah lampau dan pemerhatian terhadap krisis moden di Timur Tengah, kesimpulannya adalah jelas dan nyata: terlalu bergantung pada kuasa luar dalam mempertahankan negara adalah suatu percaturan strategik yang amat berbahaya. Kuasa asing lazimnya hadir dengan \"bantuan pelindung\" yang terikat dengan kepentingan tersembunyi, sering kali mengambil kesempatan ke atas negara yang lemah pertahanannya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oleh yang demikian, amat penting bagi sesebuah negara berdaulat untuk membina kekuatan kuasa nasional dan kuasa pertiwi secara mandiri. Kemerdekaan sesebuah negara bukan sekadar merujuk kepada kebebasan pentadbiran, tetapi juga kemampuan fizikal untuk menangkis sebarang anasir yang cuba menceroboh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justeru, ini adalah satu seruan dan desakan yang wajar diberi perhatian serius oleh Kerajaan Malaysia: agenda memperkasa, memodenkan, dan menaik taraf aset-aset strategik Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) perlulah dijadikan keutamaan tertinggi. Pelaburan dalam teknologi pertahanan moden, perisikan, dan keupayaan tempur darat, laut, dan udara adalah prasyarat wajib untuk kelangsungan negara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hanya dengan kekuatan ketenteraan dan diplomasi yang seimbang, kita mampu mengelakkan insiden wilayah darat, laut dan udara negara diinjak-injak atau dicabuli oleh kuasa asing secara sewenang-wenangnya.
